Interactivity

Due by 11:59 PM on Monday, November 10, 2025

WarningTHIS IS DIFFERENT!!!

This exercise is different from all your past work! That’s on purpose! Only HTML output can handle interactivity and dashboards—PDFs and Word files are static document formats that don’t allow Javascript.

For this exercise you’ll get to practice making interactive plots and dashboards! You’ll do it by creating a Quarto website and publishing it on the internet. That might sound intimidating and hard, but don’t worry! Thanks to Quarto (and the starter code and detailed instructions I provide), it should be fairly straightforward.

Complete instructions for the different tasks are at this website. Use the top navigation bar there to look at the different pages:

Instructions

  1. Open the project either on your computer or in Posit.cloud

    • 11-exercise.zip: If you’re using R on your own computer, download this file, unzip it, and double click on the file named 11-exercise.Rproj
    • Posit.cloud project: Use this link if you’re using Posit.cloud in your browser
  2. Follow the instructions here and complete the different tasks in the different .qmd files. Check the data description to learn more about what all the columns mean.

  3. When you’re all done, follow the instructions about publishing the site. Do not try to render as PDF or Word. In iCollege, paste the URL of your website into the submission form.
